The Naga People’s Organisation (NPO), Senapati District Women’s Association (SDWA), and Senapati District Students’ Association (SDSA) have jointly issued a strict directive to all shopkeepers within Senapati district, prohibiting price hikes and hoarding of essential commodities during the ongoing UNC-declared trade embargo.
According to the directive, the prices of all goods must remain stable, with the sole exception of superfine rice, which is to be sold strictly at the rate fixed by the Karong Senapati Town Committee (KSTC). The order, which came into immediate effect, will remain valid until further notice.
The three apex bodies warned that any shopkeeper found violating the order by either hoarding or arbitrarily increasing prices would face the cancellation of their trade license “without consideration.”
The move comes as a precautionary measure to safeguard the public from artificial scarcity and undue exploitation amid the economic disruption triggered by the ongoing trade blockade.
