The Koireng-led United National Liberation Front (UNLF) has expressed deep condolences on the demise of Nongthombam Malemnganba @ Thonglen, a 27-year-old Red Army cadre of the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK).
According to a statement by M. Shak-Hen, Secretary of Publicity of the Koireng-led UNLF, Malemnganba passed away on August 30, 2025, during a fierce confrontation at the Manipur–Myanmar border involving joint revolutionary forces of Manipur and the combined troops of the Indian Army’s Special Forces and KNA-B with allied groups.
The statement highlighted Malemnganba’s bravery, noting that he carried an injured officer to safety despite sustaining injuries and continued fighting until his last moments. The Koireng-led UNLF and its armed wing, the Manipur People’s Army (MPA), paid revolutionary tribute, describing his actions as an enduring legacy in the history of Manipur’s national liberation struggle.
The confrontation with the combined Indian forces is regarded as one of the most challenging battles in the ongoing fight for Manipur’s independence. Malemnganba’s selfless sacrifice and courage have been hailed as a shining example for future generations, inspiring the continued pursuit of the cause he gave his life for.
The Koireng-led UNLF and MPA extended condolences to his family, relatives, and comrades, affirming that his contribution will remain forever inscribed in the soil of Manipur.
