The Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) issued a statement on Thursday alleging that the NSCN-IM was attempting to disrupt the peaceful observance of the 94th Jadonang Martyr’s Day by the Zeliangrong people.
In its press release, ZUF claimed that the NSCN-IM had tried to mislead the public by projecting Haipou Jadonang as a Naga freedom fighter. It alleged that such actions were intended to divert attention, confuse people, and suppress the philosophy of Jadonang along with the Zeliangrong political movement.
The outfit described the attempt as an effort to discredit the political rights and aspirations of the Zeliangrong people. It stated that the move was aimed at diluting the historical and political ideals of Jadonang and at garnering public support for the NSCN-IM, thereby weakening the Zeliangrong cause.
ZUF further cautioned the people to remain vigilant against what it termed as “distorting elements” that could sabotage the political future of the Zeliangrong community. It accused the NSCN-IM of continuously trying to undermine the political history of the people and the ongoing political talks between ZUF and the Government of India.
Reaffirming its stand, the ZUF declared that it would continue its struggle to achieve the long-cherished political aspirations of the Zeliangrong people. It asserted that any force attempting to obstruct this goal would be dealt with firmly.
