World Malaria Day 2025 observed at Keirak

The District Health Society, in collaboration with the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP), observed World Malaria Day 2025 today at Keirak Mayai Leikai Panthoubi Sanglen under the theme “Malaria Ends With Us: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite.”
The function was graced by Keirak GP Pradhan Shanti Leima as Chief Guest, District Mission Director and Chief Medical Officer Kakching Dr. Thaodem Rajen as President, while DPM of District Health Society Kakching O. Pushpa, DPHNO Kakching S. Hemabati, and President of Keirak United Development Organisation Leitanthem Chandrakumar attended as Guests of Honour.
Delivering the keynote address, K. Okendrajit, Malaria Technical Supervisor of DMO Kakching, highlighted that India has set the target of eliminating malaria by 2030, while the state and district are aiming to achieve the goal by 2027, urging the public to work together.
In his speech, Dr. Thaodem Rajen appealed to the people to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings by removing bushes, stagnant water, and clogged drains, while also preventing water collection inside homes to curb mosquito breeding.
ASHA workers and anganwadi workers from Keirak, staff of Health Department, Kakching district, and members of the Village Level Federation of Keirak GP also took part in the programme.
