The Dental College of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, has once again earned national acclaim, being recognized by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India as one of the Top Two Best Consistently Performing Dental Colleges in the country during the World Oral Health Day (WOHD) 2025 celebrations.
This is the third consecutive year—2023, 2024, and now 2025—that RIMS has received this national-level recognition for its outstanding contribution to oral health awareness and public outreach, consistently outperforming other prestigious institutions. Launched in 2023 by the Ministry, the nationwide WOHD initiative aims to promote oral hygiene and education. RIMS has led the way since its inception, bringing continued pride to the state.
This year, the college organized a month-long campaign (March 20–April 20) under the theme “A Happy Mouth is a Happy Mind,” featuring a mass rally, cyclothon, free dental camps, poster and slogan competitions, skits, and awareness sessions targeting diverse communities. The Department of Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry led the initiative with exceptional coordination and results. Faculty members, students, and staff from all other departments also actively contributed to the collective effort.
The achievement was made possible under the guidance of Prof. G. Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director, RIMS Imphal; Prof. N. Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital; and Prof. B. Praveen Reddy, Principal, Dental College, RIMS Imphal. Their leadership and continuous support were instrumental in planning, coordination, and community engagement efforts. RIMS authority congratulated the faculty, staff, and students for their dedication, which has firmly established the college as a national leader in oral health promotion.
