BHABIKAL Theatre Director Shantanu Paul pays tribute to Ratan Thiyam

Renowned theatre personality and Director of BHABIKAL Theatre Group, Shantanu Paul, has announced that he will pay homage to the late Ratan Thiyam, a towering figure in Indian theatre, by offering floral tribute to his portrait. The gesture, Paul said, is a mark of deep respect for Thiyam’s unparalleled contribution to the world of theatre and literature.
The tribute is scheduled to take place at an upcoming memorial event being organised in honour of Ratan Thiyam, who passed away recently, leaving a profound void in the cultural and theatrical landscape of the country. Paul described Thiyam as “an institution in himself” and said his legacy will continue to inspire generations of theatre artists.
Shantanu Paul further stated that the BHABIKAL Theatre Group will also dedicate one of its upcoming productions in memory of Ratan Thiyam. “His work, vision, and aesthetic philosophy have greatly influenced modern Indian theatre. This is our humble way of acknowledging the legend,” he added.
The tribute by the Kolkata-based theatre director is part of a series of national and regional events being held across the country to honour Ratan Thiyam’s lifelong contribution to art and culture.
