YVO volunteers repair pothole-ridden road linking Yaiskul and Sagolband constituencies

Members of the Yaiskul Volunteers Organisation (YVO)have taken up voluntary repair work on a severely damaged stretch of road connecting Yaiskul and Sagolband Assembly Constituencies, after continued inaction by the concerned authorities. The stretch, running from the Krishnapremi Oil Pump in Moirangkhom to Keishamthong, had developed multiple large potholes, causing frequent inconvenience and posing safety risks to commuters.
In response to repeated complaints from the public and the lack of timely intervention by road maintenance authorities, the volunteers stepped in and carried out temporary repairs using their own resources. According to the organisation, the damaged road had become increasingly dangerous, with potholes worsening due to ongoing rainfall and vehicular traffic.
Speaking to the media, Sorokhaibam Saratchandra, President of the Yaiskul Volunteers Organisation, said the repaired stretch serves as a vital diversion route of the Imphal-Moreh National Highway 102. He pointed out that the poor condition of the road was not only disrupting daily travel but also increasing the risk of accidents.
The volunteers undertook the repair work as an emergency measure to ease public suffering, while also urging the relevant authorities to take permanent action. The organisation has warned that if the situation remains neglected, similar interventions will be carried out on other damaged roads in the area to ensure public safety and accessibility.
