A Social Audit Gram Sabha was convened at the Lamjao Mayai Leikai Community Hall for Mayeng Lamjao Gram Panchayat, situated under the Langmeidong Community Development Block in Kakching District. The meeting focused on the implementation and auditing of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) for the years 2022–2023 and 2023–2024, and the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G) for 2021–2022 and 2023–2024.
The session was presided over by Urikhinbam Jugeshwar, former Pradhan of Mayeng Lamjao Gram Panchayat. Present at the meeting were Administrative Committee Chairperson Urikhinbam Narjit Luwang, ward members, Gram Rozgar Sevak (GRS) Chirom Dhiren, ADEO (PMAY-G) Chandam Milan, SO M. Biken, District Social Auditor Th. Shantikumar, Social Audit Coordinator Thongam Riya, job card holders under MGNREGA, PMAY-G beneficiaries, members of local clubs, organisations, and Meira Paibis.
Chairperson Urikhinbam Narjit Luwang stated that the Gram Sabha was organised following the completion of a seven-day field-level social audit conducted under the supervision of the Manipur Social Audit Agency (MSAA).
During the programme, District Social Auditor Th. Shantikumar interacted with PMAY-G beneficiaries from the years 2021–2022 and 2023–2024. The discussions focused on the disbursement of the first installment and the delay or receipt of second installments for housing construction. Beneficiaries shared their concerns and progress during the session.
In regard to MGNREGA implementation, officials mentioned that most of the scheduled work had been completed within the stipulated time. It was informed that out of nine designated works, eight have been completed and one is in progress. The execution of works is being monitored and recorded in line with the guidelines of the National Mobile Monitoring Software (NMMS).
