The Deputy Commissioner of Jiribam district, Krishna Kumar, IAS, has issued a stern directive ordering the removal of unauthorized structures, shops, sheds, and house extensions constructed on both permanent and temporary bases along public areas and town stretches of Jiribam. The move comes in response to rising concerns over public inconvenience, traffic obstruction, and safety hazards caused by such illegal encroachments.
Invoking powers under Section 3 of the Manipur Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorized Occupants) Act, 1978, the District Administration has directed all unauthorized encroachers within the district to clear the structures, items, and debris from town and public areas by 3:00 PM on July 18, 2025.
The order warned that failure to comply would result in strict penal action under the relevant provisions of law, including eviction, demolition, and removal of structures. The cost of the clearance would be borne entirely by the concerned encroachers. The directive further mandates the District Police and line departments to support the eviction drive, with the Superintendent of Police instructed to ensure adequate security during the process.
