As part of its ongoing One-Year Long Silver Jubilee Celebration, the United Committee Manipur (UCM) today organised a one-day farmers’ training programme at Charangpat Mamang Leikai Community Hall in Thoubal district.
The programme, held to mark the 25th anniversary of UCM, was organised in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, Government of Manipur. The event brought together agricultural experts and local farmers to discuss sustainable farming practices and government schemes aimed at improving agricultural productivity.
The training session featured a presidium consisting of YK Dhiren, President of UCM; Thongam Joyprakash, District Agriculture Officer, Thoubal; Sairem Manglemba, Chairman of UCM Charangpat Unit; and Sagolshem Joychand, Chairman of the Administrative Committee, Charangpat Gram Panchayat.
Resource persons and technical experts at the event included Ksh. Nimaichand, Senior Nodal Officer, MOBC Department; L. Sanatomba, retired Agricultural Officer and soil scientist; Y. Indramani, Nodal Officer of the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY); and Y. Imomacha, Assistant under RKVY.
During the training, the experts shared insights on modern agricultural techniques, soil health management, and government support schemes. They encouraged the farmers to adopt scientific practices to improve yield and sustainability. The session also served as a platform for interaction between farmers and agricultural officers, allowing for the exchange of practical knowledge and concerns.
UCM expressed gratitude to the Agriculture Department and all resource persons for their support, reaffirming the organisation’s commitment to empowering local communities through knowledge-based initiatives.
