The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal observed Van Mahotsav 2025 today with a meaningful tree plantation drive under the theme “Ek Paudha Maa Ke Naam 2.0,” paying tribute to mothers through environmental action.
The Van Mahotsav celebration at RIMS saw active participation from faculty, HODs, staff, students, CRPF personnel from the 86 CRPF Battalion, Lamphel and CRED & MSS staff of RIMS, Imphal. Held at the Nursing College Hostel Complex, the event aimed to promote environmental sustainability, honour motherhood, and raise awareness on afforestation, with over 200 saplings planted to boost green cover and improve air quality.
Prof. G. Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director of RIMS, Imphal, graced the occasion in presence of Medical Superintendent of RIMS Hospital, Deputy Director (Admn), Principal of College of Nursing, RIMS, Imphal, Chief Accounts Officer-cum-Financial Advisor, Nodal Officer, SAP 2024-25/ Kaya Kalp, RIMS, Imphal. In his address, he emphasized the need for collective responsibility in protecting nature and highlighted how the symbolic gesture of planting a sapling in the name of one’s mother fosters both emotional and environmental consciousness.
The program is part of a nationwide movement encouraging citizens to plant trees under the banner “Ek Paudha Maa Ke Naam,” originally launched to foster a deeper, more personal connection with environmental conservation. The RIMS community reaffirmed its commitment to creating a greener, healthier campus while contributing to broader sustainability goals.
