Amid worsening flood conditions in Manipur, the Village Volunteer Force (VVF) unit of Moidangpok has been carrying out sustained humanitarian relief and rescue efforts in affected areas across Imphal West and Imphal East districts.
According to the group, they had been active over the past week, providing critical assistance in rescue operations, water distribution, and embankment strengthening. In partnership with the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Imphal West, the VVF distributed drinking water to residents in Moidangpok Khunou and Sajirok, where access to clean water had become severely limited.
On June 1, the VVF Moidangpok, working jointly with VVF Kamong, undertook preventive embankment reinforcement works in Moidangpok, Khaidem, and Khabi villages to reduce the risk of river overflows and breaches. Further, on June 3, the team, in coordination with VVF Moirang, rescued five families from submerged homes in Thambalkhong, Wangkhei, and Ayangpalli, while also salvaging stored rice to prevent food loss.
The volunteers expressed concern over the lack of adequate government response, especially in severely affected areas like Moidangpok Khunou and Khabi. They highlighted the ongoing scarcity of potable water, basic amenities, and the disruption of power supply, calling for immediate intervention by relevant authorities.
