Under Operation JAL RAHAT II, troops of Indian Army and Assam Rifles extended urgent assistance to the flood-affected residents of Khuringmul village in Chandel district on 31 May 2025.
In response to relentless rainfall over the past 48 hours, which led to the swelling of the Chapki River, a flood relief Column was swiftly activated. The troops responded to an emergency situation where connectivity was completely cut off, impacting three villages with a combined population of approximately 1000 people.
The swollen river, which is normally passable by foot, had become a significant hazard, especially for children and the elderly. Recognizing the urgency, the unit mobilised manpower and provided essential construction materials to erect a makeshift bridge, restoring vital access for the stranded villagers.
