State observes Rashtriya Ekta Diwas

“Rashtriya Ekta Diwas” 2024 (National Unity Day) was observed withnationalistic zeal todayat the 1st Bn. Manipur Rifles Parade Ground, Imphal.
The Chief Guest of the function, Thongam Biswajit Singh, Minister (Power, Forest, Environment & Climate Change, Agriculture, Science and Technology) took salute from the parade contingents led by parade commander Sarangthem Hemanta Singh (MPS),CO 3rd IRB and inspected the parade contingents.
The Minister wished the gathering on “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas 2024 (National Unity Day)” and revealed the significance of the observation of the very day.
Rashtriya Ekta Diwas or the National Unity Day has been observing since 2014 to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel,independence activist and statesman who served as the first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of India from 1947 to 1950, the Minister added.
Thongam Biswajit Singh remembered the significant and dedicated works done by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patelin theunification of our Nation.The Minister further stated that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, as a pure Gandhian, took a major role in the Indian freedom movements.He revolted and evoke sympathy and admiration across India, including among pro-British Indian politicians.His remarkable contributions during Quit India Movement (1942),during the time of partition of India, his implorations to the youngster to preserve and to promote patriotism in strengthening the unity and diversity of the nation were noteworthy, the minister added.
The Minister further stated that, recognizing Patel’scontribution to integrate 565 princely states into a newly independent India was total and uncompromising. Hiscommitment to national integration in the newly independent country earned him the sobriquet “Iron Man of India”. In the year 1991, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patelwas adorned with the most prestigious civilian award ‘the Bharat Ratna’, and in remembrance of his significant contributions, the “Statue of Unity” was inaugurated on 31stOctober 2018, the 143rdanniversary of Patel’s birth.
Thongam Biswajit Singh appealed the general public to follow the footsteps of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel to preserve and maintain the tranquillity, unity and diversity of the state and the nation.
Parading of March Past by 15 contingents including the band contingents, and administering of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas pledge led by the Minister were among the part of the function.
The celebration was also attended by  Ministers, MLAs, high level civil and police officials and the public.
District Administration Kakching along with the District Youth Affairs and Sports, Kakching and Khelo India Centre Kakching (Badminton and Wushu), organised “Run for Unity” today.
The “Run for Unity” was flagged off at the Indoor Stadium in Kakching Chumnang Leikai by Thokchom Vikramjit Singh (MPS), Superintendent of Police, Kakching District. A total of around 100 participants from the District Youth Affairs and Sports Office, Khelo India Centre Kakching and Kakching Police, took part in the Unity run. Binoy Chongtham, Additional SP (Ops) Kakching,  Ng. Sunita Chanu, District Youth Affairs and Sports Officer, Kakching, Birla Soraisam, OC Commando Unit, among others, also participated in the Unity Run.
The route started at the Indoor Stadium complex, taking participants along the DC Road, Hospital Road, Phoushupat Lairembi Road and NH 137(A), before finishing back at the Indoor Stadium.
SP Th. Vikramjit Singh administered a pledge to the participants of the Unity Run to uphold unity as part of the programme.
Along with rest of the country, Rashtriya Ekta Diwas(National Unity Day) which marks the birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel was observed today in Thoubal district also.
As part of the Observation, “Unity Run” was held. Deputy Commissioner, Thoubal A. Subhash Singh, IAS led the Unity Run from Thoubal Mela Ground which culminates at Counting Hall DC Complex. Later, Deputy Commissioner administered the unity pledge to the participants. DLOs of different departments, Manipur police personnel and volunteers of NYK Thoubal participated in the Unity Run.
District Administration, Tengnoupal also observed Rashtriya Ekta Diwas with a Pledge Taking ceremony and a Run for Unity at District HQ, Tengnoupal. Arif Sajad, SDC Tengnoupal administered the Pledge to the participants. “Run for Unity” takes place from DC office with the participations of officials and police personals.
District Administration, Senapati in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra, Senapati and District Youth Affairs and Sports, Senapati joining the nationwide organised a ‘Run for Unity’ today. As part of the observation, the Deputy Commissioner of Senapati, Mamoni Doley, IAS administered the Unity pledge to the participants. Later, the Senapati DC also flagged off the Unity Run.
District Administration Kangpokpi in collaboration with Superintendent of Police, Kangpokpi organised a unity run marathon. The unity run began at 7 am and was flagged off by the Additional Deputy Commissioner N. Shokhongam Baite MCS at the Superintendent of Police Headquarters. The run then proceeded to Kangpokpi Police Station before returning back to Brigadier Thomas Ground. Unity’s pledge was administered in the presence of Manoj Prabhakar IPS, SP Kangpokpi; N. Shokhongam Baite, ADM, MCS; Abhinav IPS, SDPO; Doujapao Haokip, MCS, CEO, SH-ADC; L. Simte, MCS, SDO- Champhai, Tholu Rocky, MPS, Addl. SP(LO); DLO’s and many others.
Deputy Commissioner Tamenglong, Dr. L. Angshim Dangshawa, IAS, flags off the ‘Run for Unity’ event in Tamenglong district headquarter at Jadonang park. The ‘Run for Unity’ which starts from Jadonang park finished at 5th MR, BN headquarters, Khongjaron, Tamenglong. Joshua Kamei of Kakhulong village, Langdimei Daimei of Indai Village and Nambilung Gangmei of 5th MR battalion finished the run event as first, second and third respectively. District level officials, CSO, local youths and women’s society of various wards of Tamenglong district participate the event with full vigour and enthusiasm.
Rashtriya Ekta Diwas organised by District Administration Noney was observed today at DC Office Complex,Longmai, Noney. A pledge taking ceremony was held at the complex of the DC office led by Stiff Khapudang, ADM Noney along with SDOs, District Level Officers and other staff of the office. As a part of the observance, the District Administration along with Noney Police conducted the Run for Unity at Longmai Bazar. The run started from Noney Bridge and culminated at Longmai Bazar Traffic Point which was spearheaded by Noney DSP, MPS Jilangamba Thangal and O.C Noney PS, Inspector Th. Dominique.
SP Churachandpur, Shaik Mohd Zaib Zakir today flagged off ‘Run for Unity’ from DC complex, Churachandpur, marking the celebration of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day).
The ‘Run for Unity’ was organized by District Administration, Churachandpur.
Prior to Flagging off the Run, Churachandpur SP administered the unity pledge to the participants from civil administration, police, CRPF, BSF and 1st IRB personnel and led the run. The Run concluded at Public Ground, Churachandpur.
Along with the rest of the country, Ukhrul District Administration also observed the ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ (National Unity Day) by organizing “Run for Unity” today.
The “Run for Unity” was flagged off by Smt. Kengoo Zuringla, IAS, the Deputy Commissioner (DC), Ukhrul at Ukhrul Higher Secondary School, Wino Bazar and later assembled at the Mini Secretariat Compound, Hamleikhong.
