Imphal, Oct 15:
The Resident Doctors Association (RDA) of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, today organized a sit-in protest in front of the RIMS OPD block to express solidarity with the Indian Medical Association Junior Doctors Network (IMAJDN) in their nationwide hunger strike. The protest was held in response to the recent tragic incident involving the death of a trainee doctor at R.G. Kar Hospital, Kolkata. Addressing the gathering, Dr. R.K. Lenin Singh, Professor of the Psychiatry Department, RIMS, Imphal, said, “Junior doctors are the backbone of every hospital. Without their dedication, it would be impossible to run the hospital smoothly. Harassment and violence against them, including the horrifying killing of one of our own, is completely unacceptable. Delaying justice is not only inhumane but sets a dangerous precedent. The IMA Manipur State branch fully supports this cause, and we urge everyone to stand in solidarity with doctors.”
