Chief Minister N. Biren Singh today received the first food grains consignment by train from Punjab at Khongsang Railway Station, Noney District.
The Goods train which started its journey from Dhuri, Punjab on 6th of this month, carried 949 metric tonnes of rice in its 15 wagons.
Speaking at the reception programme, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh appreciated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for sending the food grains in the State through railway, adding that trains carrying essential commodities had also arrived for two times earlier. He continued that this had been possible due to the commitment of the Prime Minister and the hard efforts of Railway officials, Food Corporation of India (FCI), security forces for the betterment of the people of the State.
He further appreciated the Central Paramilitary forces, State force for their dedicated services in trying to bring the State towards normalcy and make the State peaceful as before. He expressed happiness on seeing people coming forward to work at the railway station, stating that the people of the State has work culture.
N. Biren maintained that the State Government had been taking up measures to prevent shortage of essential commodities, during the hard times we had been facing for the last few months.
The State Government has been able to render service to the people due to the commitment of the FCI, Railways, security forces and conviction of Central Government leaders, he added.
The Chief Minister thanked the Civil Society Organisations, Village Chiefs and youths of Khongsang for their support and cooperation.
It may be mentioned that 60 trucks of FCI is made ready to lift to Imphal with security convoy.
The reception programme was also attended by Water Resources Minister Awangbow Newmai, Chairman, Hill Area Committee Dinganglung Gangmei, Deputy Commissioner, Noney Sharath Chandra Arroju, Assistant Commercial Manager, NF Railways, Lumding Circle Dipankar Sarkar, Deputy General Manager (Region), FCI Regional Office, Manipur K. Satya Kumar and Divisional Manager, FCI, Imphal Adani Mao among others.
