Imphal, Sept 16:

Former President of the All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU) Thounaujam Tarunkumar today highlighted the roles of journalists in resolving the ongoing crisis in Manipur and also finding out the ‘rogue elements’ that incite the crisis.
Speaking at the 49th Foundation Day of the journalists’ body at Manipur Press Club here in Imphal Tarunkumar said that journalists working on the ground for collection reports need to work out together, as no single journalist cannot gather a complete report.
“Whatever each of us came across is not a complete picture as events that each of us are a fraction of the event and not complete. So when each of us rolls our head together we can give a complete and clear picture of what is happening”, Tarunkumar said while calling on the journalists to work with integrity.
The founder president of AMWJU however, called on the journalists to understand the rogue elements that are inciting the crisis in the state.
“We as a journalist should understand the ‘rogue elements’ causing chaos and trouble in the state”, Tarunkumar said pointing fingers to some leaders of a specific community fueling the feuds. He said that these rogue elements who are trying to distort the integrity of the state should not be forgiven at all times.
He further said that the journalists and the people should give full cooperation to the judicial commission to probe the cause of the ongoing crisis so that people know who are these people inciting the communal feuds in the state.
The 49th Foundation Day of the AMWJU was also attended by Founder member of the journalists’ body, Keisam Shyamkishore, President of Editor Guild of Manipur Khogendra Khondram, and present president of the AMWJU Bijoy Kakchingtabam as dignitaries on the dais.
On the occasion, floral tributes were paid to the memorial pillar of the departed members of the AMWJU. A 2-minute silence was also observed as a mark of respect to those departed souls. Besides, founder members of AMWJU were also honoured with a citation.
