A team of Anti Smuggling Unit Customs division Imphal today seized around 1137 kg of Gold worth over Rs. 57 Lakhs at Bir Tikendrajit Airport here in Imphal yesterday.
The person trying to smuggle the gold was identified as MD Abir Khan, son of MD Majahar Khan of Keirao Makting Menjor Ingkhol under Keirao Bitra Sub-Division. He was arrested by the Customs official while trying to board an Air Asia flight along with the gold. The official found 4 (four) oval shape gold past from his possession. A case has been registered against the person.
