Rear Admiral Sanjay Bhalla takes over as the Fleet Commander, Eastern Fleet

Rear Admiral Sanjay Bhalla, an Assistant Chief of Personnel (Human Resource Development) at IHQ, Ministry of Defence (Navy), New Delhi, prior took over as the Fleet Commander, Eastern Fleet on Monday.
A communication and Electronics Warfare Specialist Rear Admiral Sanjay Bhalla is an alumnus of Royal College of Defence Studies, London. He has Commanded three warships and served as the Indian Naval Adviser at, Islamabad and Naval Assistant to the Chief of the Naval Staff.
The Eastern Fleet is a Naval fleet of the Indian Navy. It is known as the ‘Sword Arm’ of the Eastern Naval Command and called the “Sunrise Fleet. It is headquartered at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh on the east coast of India. It is responsible for the naval forces in the Bay of Bengal and parts of the Indian Ocean. The Eastern Fleet was constituted on 1 November 1971.
