CCSK observes First Peoples’ government of Manipur

Imphal:  Commemorating the first sitting of the first Manipur Legislative Assembly, The Committee of Civil Societies Kangleipak (CCSK) today observed First Peoples’ government of Manipur (Manipur Puwarida Meeyamgee Leingak Leiba Numit) at MFDC Palace Compound.
On this day – the 18th of October, 1948, the first sitting of the peoples’ elected representative elected by universal franchise was held. That time Manipur was not a part of the Indian Union. And India was yet to hold election after British left the country.
This is the 2nd time that the CCSK is observing the day.
The commemoration function was attended by various leaders of the civil society organisation including Arjun Telheiba, President CCSK, Joy Chingakham , Human Rights DefenderJeetendra Ningomba, United all Communities social upliftments and other leaders of the meira paibis.
