Imphal, June 16: Two active cadres of the proscribe group UTLA were arrested yesterday by a team of CDO Jiribam led by SI Raju under the supervision of Th Vikramjit Singh, MPS and SP Jiribam during a raid conducted at a hotel in Jiribam Bazar.
The two arrested cadres have been identified as Lunkhopao Haokip @ Papao (aged 37), s/o Ngulkhodou Haokip of Churachandpur; P Minthang Singson, s/o Hongkhohen Singson of Tamenglong, permanent address – Churachandpur.
Three mobile phones and two I cards were seized from them.
One Tingkhohoi Haokip @ Kangnu(aged 45), w/o Late John Haokip of Mission Compound, Jiribam was arrested on their revelation and seized one moblie phone and one packet of heroin powder weighing 15 gms.
During the preliminary investigation the arrested cadres reveals that they are actively involved in smuggling of drugs and heroin powder from Myanmar to Manipur.
Further investigation reavels that Papao and Minthang are active cadres of the UG group UTLA working under the command of one Keikhohao @ Amosh@ Haopu and along with Kaikhohao @ Amosh @ Haopu are actively involved in abduction for ransom of staffs of Coastal Project from Oinamlong , smuggling of arms and ammunitions from Myanmar to Manipur.
A case under FIR 30 (6)2017 JBM PS.U/S 21/29 NDPS act and 400IPC has been registered and investigation is under process.
