Imphal, June 8: Manipur Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh will attend a meeting in Aizawl on June 12 wherein the security situation and development activities along Indo-Myanmar border will be discussed.
The meeting which will be chaired by Home Minister Rajnath Singh will also be attended by Pema Khandu, Shurhozelie Liezietsu and Lal Thanhawla, the Chief Ministers of Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Mizoram respectively.
The four Northeast states share the border with Myanmar. The 1,643 km long porous India-Myanmar border is guarded by the Assam Rifles, but presence of militants, smuggling of arms and other illegal activities there have been a concern for peace, stability and economic activities for both the countries.
Official sources said the scheduled meeting aims to improve security along the international border.
