‘Let us end dual celebration of Khongjom Day’

Imphal, April 25: Titular king of Manipur, Leishemba Sanajaoba has said it is imperative to immediately begin a process of consultation in order to settle the dispute over the exact date of Khongjom Day and pave the way for a joint observation on a common day. 
He was speaking as the chief guest at the 126th Khongjom Battle Commemoration 2017 which was organised by Khongjom Battle Memorial Committee, Manipur at Khongjom Tengol Lampak.
Continuing his speech, he said it is a great privilege for the present generation that they are getting the chance to offer some fruits, flowers or grains and pay their tributes to the brave-hearts who sacrificed their lives at the battle of Khongjom.  
We should feel proud of being their descendants, he said, adding that mere observation of memorial programmes and paying tributes in their memory will not do justice to the immense sacrifice they had made. Instead, the present generation must attempt to possess their intrepid quality and walk in their footsteps.
