Nine-day film making workshop kicks off:28 candidates including six from hill districts take part in the workshop

Imphal, March 27: A ‘Nine-day Film Making Workshop’ conducted by the Films Division, Ministry of Information &  Broadcasting, Government of India in partnership with the Department of Information & Public Relations, Government of Manipur, Manipur State Film Development Society and Film Society of Manipur at MSFDS auditorium, Palace Gate here began today. The workshop will conclude on April 4, 2017.
28 candidates including six tribal candidates took part in the workshop. In his introductory speech, eminent documentary film maker Joshy Joseph, Deputy Director General of Films Division asked the participants to be punctual at the work place and to be attentive in the discourse during the workshop which was of a very short duration. He stated that the workshop was well designed into three days of ideation followed by three days of shooting and three days of editing. During the workshop the participants would be divided into two groups and each group would make one film each under the mentorship of Mr. Sumit Ghosh in Editing, Mr. Manesh Madhavan in Camera, Mr. Aruit Dutta in Sound and Mr. Joshy Joseph in Direction and the technical support team of films division headed by Mr. R. Ravi.
While welcoming the participants, film critic Meghachandra Kongbam, the President of Film Societies of Manipur and also the Director of information and Public Relations, Government of Manipur appealed to the participants to be aggressive in learning the knowledge of film making during the workshop. He emphasized on the professional attitude which would always be kept in the mind of the participants. He hoped that all the participants would come out with a perfect film maker for the cause of Manipuri cinema.
Eminent film maker Haobam Paban Kumar who was also the Secretary, Films Society of Manipur said that though the duration of the workshop was too short, it would certainly benefit to the film enthusiasts in the venture of their career in film making. He appealed to all the course participants to be serious during the workshop and wished them all the best.
