Thousands bid farewell to Ramkashing and Mayopam
A massive funeral ceremony was held with the participations of tens of thousands of people in Tangkhul Nagalong Ground, Ukhrul today for the two Tangkhul youths who were killed during the UNC sponsored mass rally in Ukhrul on Saturday. Ramkashing Vashi (s/o L. Christopher Vashi of Teinem Village, Ukhrul), and R. Mayopam (s/o L.R. Hangyui of Teinem Village, Ukhrul) were allegedly killed in police firing at Ukhrul ton when they are participating a mass rally organised by the United Naga Council. Several other people were also reported injured among which 4 of them are undergoing treatment at different hospitals in Imphal. Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh had yesterday announced rupees 5 lakhs compensations for both the death and assured to bear all the medical expenses of the persons undergoing treatment at different hospital in Imphal. He also assured to conduct an inquiry over the incident. Since early morning today large number of people gathered at Tangkhul NagaLong Ground in Ukhrul town to pay homage and last respect to the soulless bodies of the two person. Representatives of the UNC, Naga Hoho, NPMHR, NWU, ANSAM and other frontal bodies paid tribute to the two persons. The bodies of both Ramkashing Vashi and R. Mayopam were brought at Tangkhul Nagalong Ground after conducting post mortem at Ukhrul district Hospital. Meanwhile, United Naga Council (UNC) today calls indefinite ban on vehicular movement in both the national high ways and also construction of National project in Naga inhabitate area from 6 am of September 4. The decision was announced today at the sideline of the funeral service at Tagkhul Naga Long ground. UNC source said that the decision was announced after an emergency presidential council meeting of the UNC. Media person, power supply and emergency will be exempted from the ban. The UNC said that the ban will imposed untill the central government intervened to the situation of the Naga People. It said a memorandum in the regard has been submitted to the Prime Minister. Meanwhile, Naga People Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR) is organising a silient rally in New Delhi tomorrow in protest against the killing of two protestors in Ukhrul town and also deploying of IRB personnel and Manipur Police Commando in Ukhrul Town. CrPC 144 relaxed in Ukhrul IT News Imphal, Sep 1: District administration of Ukhrul relaxed the section 144 of the CrPC, which was imposed in Ukhrul town from 9 am till 3 pm today in view of the funeral service of the two civilians who were killed during Saturday’s protest in Ukhrul. State forces in uniform were not deployed near the site of funeral service.
