Imphal, Jan 10: Mainland India’s politics through its hand-picked and chosen pet leaders from the region in the name of national politics has left the people of the NE States in a very hopeless situation and its bonafide people are leading a miserable life in their own land like refugees. On 20th October 2013 in a meeting of different North East Regional political parties held at Guwahati attended by their respective representatives unanimously resolved to form North East Regional Political Front (NERPF) with HQ at Guwahati with the objective of its foremost priority to work in order to safeguard territorial, cultural, social, political and economic rights of the people of the region and continuously strive to protect the distinctive identities of the ethnic tribes and to resolve all insurgency/militancy/political issues immediately so as to usher in an era of peace for sustainable development in the region. Manipur Democratic People Front being a constituent member and coordinator of the 11 NE Parties Front praise the effort put up by Nagaland Govt. in bringing peace making process between the Govt. of India and one of the prominent insurgency groups in the region to almost its last leg but to end, the good result of which is still awaited. Now the crucial time has come for NERPF to act once again in the interest of the region with the announcement of election of 5 states assemblies of UP, GOA, MANIPUR, UTTRAKHAND and PUNJAN. Three constituent parties namely MDPF, MPP, MSCP and NPF are in the fray for this ensuing MANIPUR state’s 11th ASSEMBLY election. The ongoing ECONOMIC BLOCKADE of the United Naga Council on the two National Highways of Imphal-Dimapur and Imphal – Silchar has caused extreme inconvenience in getting required essential items connected with the day today use of both voters and aspiring candidates of these NERPF constituent parties. MDPF being a privileged NERPF associate urged the Nagas in general and specially to the UNC to lift the economic blockade in the interest of the voters and aspiring candidates of NERPF Constituents.
