Fitting tribute paid to Ex-Minister M. Ibotombi on 22nd Death Anniversary

CM says assassination, an easy job are acts of cowards

Imphal, Dec 7: Chief Minister Okram Ibobi today said that act of killing people, assassination – an easy job are committed only by cowards.
Speaking on the 22nd death anniversary function of the Ex-Minister M Ibotombi organized by  Moirangthem Ibotombi Memorial Trust at the Moirangthem Ibotombi Memorial Complex in Heiork of Thoubal district today, Chief Minister O Ibobi said that short temper or vengeance might have been the reason for someone to commit the most cowardice act but killing will not bring any solution.  He appealed people to think into the matter and said that we all should work together not to make such barbaric act repeated again.
Ex-Minister Moirangthem Ibotombi was assassinated by armed group 22 years back, his son M Okendro is presently the RD & PR Minister of Ibobi led Congress government. Every year fitting tribute was paid to the departed leader by organizing grand memorial function. This year the remembrance function was organised under the theme – “Aphaba Khunnai Amagidamak Apikpa Wakhal Thadoklasi”, which literary meant let us leave selfish thinking for a better society.
 Chief Minister Okram Ibobi further said that no organizations or individuals have clarified the reason for killing late Ibotombi.
“Every year the organizing committee has been asking those responsible for the killing of late M. Ibotombi to give reason for such an extreme action but till today no has clarified”, the chief Minister said.
On the other hand the Chief Minister said that even the law court takes time to decide in awarding capital punishment to culprits. How could someone take the life of a person so cheap? How could someone punish a person with capital punishment on the ground that he had committed some crimes? Did any of them ever enquired on why the wrongs are being committed out or did any of them find out whether it was compelled to do or not, Okram Ibobi question.
The chief Minister further appealed the people to stop act of barbarism and eradicate violent activities from the society for a better peaceful society.
Earlier, Chief Minister O.Ibobi, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, Parliamentary Secretaries, Ministers, MLAs, and top officials of Manipur Police Departments along with thousands of people paid floral tribute at the memorial complex of Ex-Minister M Ibotombi.
