‘State govt. to generate energy from garbage’

Imphal, July 25: The state government is planning to generate Energy and compose or organic manure from the garbage collected from the town under Under Waste to Wealth Plant
Addressing to media persons at the serial press conference of HODs organised by DIPR Manipur at its premises, Gitkumar Nepram of MAHUD and town planning department said that state government has already established a “solid waste treatment plant” at Lamdeng.
The Solid waste treatment plant has capacity to safely dispose 100 metric ton per shift of 8hours of municipal waste by converting into compose manure, said Gitkumar.
Considering the change in the nature and waste generated in Imphal city the state government has decided to upgrade the existing waste treatment plant to generate electricity on PPP model without any extra investment from the state government, he added.
Gitkumar further said that the state government is all set to sign agreement in the first week of August with Innovative Eco-Care Pvt.Ltd Ahmadabad to commission power plant and the plant is likely to commence by the end of October, 2016.
