Panic buying jam oil depots around Imphal area

Imphal, June 9: With the announcement of 24 hours total shut down followed by 10 days economic blockade by the JAC formed against the passing of the 3 ILPS related Bills and the Outer Manipur Tribals’ Forum (OMTF), an apex body of the Hmar Inpui, Mizo People Convention, Thadou Inpi, United Naga Council and Zomi Council since yesterday midnight, panic buying of fuel at almost all oil depots in Imphal area caused traffic jam in and around the areas of Oil depots located in Imphal city.
Since early morning vehicles were seen lining up in queues at almost all the petrol depots at Moirangkhom, Kakwa, Uripok, Nongmeibung, Hatta and North AOC, which is the main route for commuters.
Following the chaotic situation some of the oil depot had stopped distributing oil stating that the fuel are out of stock. Placard with words, Petrol & diesel are out of stock at almost all oil depot located at Imphal. Some had started distributing for around 1 hours and latter stopped saying that fuels are out of stock.
The JAC and other tribal bodies yesterday resolved on a 24 hours total shut down in all tribal inhabited today followed by 10 days economic blockade in both the National High way. United Naga Council (UNC) had also extended its support to the bandh called by the JAC formed against the 3 Bill.
