Thoubal district hit by another Bandh; passenger vehicles stay off Tiddim road over non allotment of parking space
Imphal, April 28: : Normal life in greater Imphal area was completely paralyzed after two different JACs formed against alleged murder of two youths at two different incidents called a 24 hour band at Imphal East and another indefinite bandh at Kakwa area.
The JAC formed against the brutal murder of B Pitaranjan @ Korabin called a 24 hour bandh starting from 6 am today. During the bandh a large number of people from Nongmeibung area came out on the streets and blocked all vehicles at Pureiromba Khongnangkhong, Nongmeibung and Soibam leikai areas. The bandh supporters vandalised some of the vehicles in the morning. Later, tyres were burnt at the middle of the road preventing movement of vehicles.
Pitaranjan was found murdered at Kangkhum Village under Kasom Khullen Sub division under Ukhrul district some days back. Family said he left for the village on April 19.
The JAC formed in connection with the killing has been demanding immediate arrest of the culprits involved in the gruesome murder.
Further, the JAC formed against the death of S Prasanta had also imposed indefinite blockade of all vehicles along the Imphal-Moreh road demanding immediate arrest of the culprits involved in the killing of the youth. Prashanta was found dead hanging at Lilong on April 26 morning.
When greater Imphal area is being seriously hit by the twin bandhs, the condition at Yairipok area was no better as another JAC formed against the death of Oinam Kunjamani continued its protest by imposing total bandh at Yairipok area. Oinam Kunjamani was killed after a passenger diesel auto hit him on April 18 at around 10 am at Wangkhem area. The JAC has been demanding the arrest of the Diesel auto driver.
Meanwhile Tiddim Road wore a deserted look today as passenger vehicles’s body called Tiddim Line Magic and Winger Joint Co-ordinating committee begins 2 day steering down strike from today morning. The transporters’ body has been demanding allotment of proper parking space for the vehicles in Imphal area.
They blamed the state traffic police for collecting tips every time they park at any area of Imphal.
