MSAD condemns arrest of Kanhaiyalal, urges to shift army camp from MU

An academic awareness campaign organised by Manipur Students’ Association Delhi (MSAD) starting from February 2 concluded yesterday at Senapati.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, MSAD president Meraj Shah Kori said that the awareness campaign was organised under the aim of highlighting the problems and prospects of academic facilities.
The awareness campaign was focused on facilitating students who wish to go to Delhi for higher studies where many parents and students were made aware of the problems faced by the NE people, especially students, which have been facing lots of difficulties including racial discriminations.
The campaign also highlight prospects of academic facilities and courses offered in Delhi University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Jamia Millia Islamia University etc.
Meraj also said that most of the schools are turning into business houses, coaching institutes transforming into schools and rising number of private institutes create an ecological disorder in the education system.
Schools in the remote areas of Manipur mainly the hill areas lack teachers, academic infrastructures, and urged the concern authority to implement the education policies, transfer and posting of teachers at the remote areas effectively.
On the other hand, Meraj Shah said that MSAD strongly condemned the deployment of police at the JNU campus after the recent unfortunate incident, taking away their freedom of speech and capturing of students for being anti-national which is a false statement.
Meraj appeals to the concern authority and the government to remove the police deployed inside the college campus.
The army camp stationed inside the campus of Manipur University is not reasonable and must be stationed far from the educational zone areas and that JNU and MU campus is not a war zone, Meraj asserted is his speech.
MSAD also provided help to the victims of the recent earthquake of Noney and Kabui Khullen.
