Works Minister Kh. Ratankumar wishes to live till 2100 as he wishes to see the advancement of technology

Works Minister Kh. Ratankumar today expressed his wish to survive upto the year 2100 if god grants his wish as he is eager to see the changing world with full of scientific technology to comfort human life. Speaking at the inaugural function of the International conference on the Emerging Trends in Science and Engineering research here at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Manipur, Langol , Ratan, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest said that the kind of transformation in technology taking place across the globe would make the world a wonderful place for human being.
The inaugural function of the International Conference is being attended by scientists and professors from various universities across the country including few from USA. Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh who was supposed to attend the function as Chief guest was replaced by Works Minister Kh Ratankumar, as he is occupied in an emergency government related works. Education Minister M Okendro and Dr.Sarungbam Birendra Singh, Director NIT and Prof. V. Sree Hari Rao, University of Florida shares the dais as dignitaries of the inaugural function.
Earlier, Prof. V. Sree Hari Rao, University of Florida, who is being invited by the NIT  stressed on the emerging trends of science and technology across the globe.
“The past is our pride, present is our challenges and the future is ours’ to build”, said Prof Rao referring to how our ancestor had developed science and the hope that science has provided to make human life better in the future. He said nature is always a guiding force for scientists.
Elaborating on how science discovers and technology follows to make a change, the professor from the University of Florida, USA however stated that technology ahead of science is a disaster.
“Science is finding a way to build gadget to solve human crisis”, Prof. Rao added.
Talking about the future of science and the technology, Prof. Rao said that many advancement is taking place and by 2100 human civilization may witness the most comfortable form of live. He stressed on the future power as neo atomic power.
The professor however is a bit critical about the globalization and liberalization as it is wiping out the domestic industries.
When this reporter personally enquired whether what he meant is another form of colonial expansion by developed countries towards the underdeveloped and developing country by making these countries with their technology products, Professor V. Sree Hari Rao indirectly hinted that nations like India is now spending money to procure products from developed countries as they are more advanced instead of home made products.
Education Minister M Okendro, who also attended today’s inaugural function while appreciating the NIT for taking the initiative to organize such a international conference, stated that scholars from outside the state as well as from abroad are sometimes reluctant to visit the state due to the law and order problems in the state. He said the state welcomes scholars who will enhance wisdom to the people of the state from outside the state as well as from abroad.
NIT Manipur is among the 10 new institutions established in the country in the second phase. At present there are 30 NIT across the country, said Dr. Sarungbam Birendra Singh, Director NIT.
