Normal works at Imphal BSNL office continue to freeze for the second day as employees stand stuck to their demand of transfer of J. Lunkim, General Manger, Manipur SSA for allegedly assaulting an employee identified as L Roben Singh inside his office chamber on the evening of October 28. Billing counters of BSNL, complain sections and line repairing sections of telecommunication department paralyses as staffs continue pen down strike since yesterday. After the incident of October 28, the employees Union of the BSNL staged protest demonstration on Oct. 29 demanding apology from the GM, but without disturbing the office environment. The following days employees wore black badge and later continue Non-cooperation with the GM followed by sit-in protest. But as no response was made to the protest, the employees of the BSNL Manipur begin pen down strike affecting all kinds of BSNL activities. Telephone or BSNL cell phone consumers were not allowed to pay bills at the received counters.
Representatives of the Forum of BSNL Unions/ Association, while talking to media persons accuse the GM for his high handedness towards his employees many a times. He said the kind of attitude shown to the employees was not the first time and as the employees can no longer tolerate, this time they stood up against the GM. He also said that the demand for GM transfer is not related with any communal motives.
