All is set to observe Luchingpurel Akaba’s 71st Birth Anniversary

2nd Chingsubam Akaba Memorial Journalist Award 2014-2015 will be conferred on November 9 in commemoration with the 71st birth anniversary of Chingsubam Akaba and the 2nd foundation day celebration of Pandam, a bilingual evening daily which was founded by Akaba, days back to 1980s.
The award ceremony organized jointly by Luching Purel Akaba Ningsing Lup (LUCANIL), Thoyee Village Authority and Management Board of Pandam will be held at Thoyee (Thawai) Village under Phungyar A/C of Ukhrul District. The village being chosen for the venue for the program as the village had important place in Akaba’s life, told N Tomba, Executive editor, Pandam in a press meet held at its office at Wahengbam Leikai, Imphal.
Tomba said Akaba dedicated his life in building unity and integrity among hill and valley people of Manipur. He added that Akaba visited Thawai village frequently and took up various activities leading to strengthening the bondage and relationship between hill and valley.
As per villagers wish, Manipur Sumang Leela Council will show its Sumang Leela (Manipuri traditional play) “Kangleipakta 1709 (Puya Mei Thaba)” on the day, said Tomba.
He further appealed people of Manipur, not to call any band or strike on this day.
While speaking to media persons, Ng Khathing, Headman, Thawai Village authority said the village is very much please for the integral ideology shown by Akaba in their village. Organising such programs will surely renew the sense of brotherhood among hill and valley. It will rejuvenate the truth that hill and valley people cannot be imparted at any cost, said Khathing.
While welcoming one and all in the memorial function Khathing added that remembering Akaba’s integral ideology and discussing on public platform will boost in integral building among us.
It may be mention that A Robindro Sharma, Editor, Poknapham, Daily Newspaper, L Pritam, Reporter, ISTV and M.Karnajit, Reporter (Chief Bureau), Hueiyen Lanpao, Daily Newspaper will be conferred the awards which carry a case of Rs.20,000 and Rs. 10,000 each respectively with Citations and Mementos on that day.
K Manoranjan, Additional chief Engineer, CADA, and Tongbram Robindro, Social worker are the donors of year’s case in the award.
