Indira Gandhi remembered on 31st death anniversary; MPCC pays fitting tribute

Manipur Pradesh Congress committee observed 31st death anniversary of Indira Gandhi at Congress Bhavan today. Chief Minister O. Ibobi, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, other ministers and MLAs attended the occasion as dignitaries.
The day is observed as Rashtriya Sankalp Diwas. On the occasion fitting tributes were paid to the portrait of the Congress leader.
Speaking to the Media Person Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam said that Pandit Nehru was the first Prime Minister of India and also one of the leading visionary leaders of the world. He further stated that like Nehru, Indira Gandhi was also a leader who sacrificed her life for the cause of the nation. She was listed among the women leaders of the world. He appealed the people to fulfill the dream of Indira Gandhi.
On the present situation of the state Gaikhangam expressed dissatisfaction stating that bandh, blockade or any short of violent agitation is not the solution to any problem. He said dialogue is the only means to sort out the differences and people should come forwards to have dialogue instead of indulging in violent protest.
Replying the JAC of Churachandpur announcement of separate road construction of Chingjol to Tuimai and Churanchanpur to Silchar via Jiribam, Gaikhangam said that construction of road is a good work and no one including those in the government should not hinder to any development works.
He further stated that the last rite of the dead bodies of Churachandpur incident should be conduct without blaming the state government, there is no any reason to blaming one another, instead of that we should bring a proper solution together.
Late Indira Gandhi was assassinated on this day 1984 by a Sikh militant at her office premises.
