People of Manipur today bade their final farewell to the mortal remains of Sapam Robinhood, who was killed in police action during ILPS movement last month and performed the last rites at Awa Ching, Imphal East.
Along with thousands of people, members of JCILPS, JAC formed against the killing of Sapam Robinhood, ILPS activist and well wishers, sympathizers accepted the dead body of Robinhood from the mortuary of JNIMS and later took out a procession towards Khurai Lairik Yengbam Leikai- residence of the late Lamjing Meira via Salanthong and paid floral tribute to the departed soul for around 30 minutes.
Later, the procession marched towards Ananda Academy Higher Secondary School via Telipati- Soibam Leikai and paid another floral tribute in front of the school gate.
From there they headed towards the ancestral residence of Robinhood situated at Keishamthong Thangjam Leirak via Nongmeibung- Konung Mamang- Thumbuthong- Yaiskul-Keishamthong bazaar.
The procession will proceed towards Awa Ching, Porompat where the last rite would be performed.
Meanwhile, state security forces have been deployed along the procession route to prevent untoward incidents.
