JAC bandh crippled normal life in Imphal-Ukrul road

Imphal,May 02: Strongly denouncing the attack of the bandh supporters who allegedly damaged around 30 residential houses in Gwaltabi Village and looted valuable items on Thursday, locals of Gwaltabi have imposed bandh along Imphal-Ukhrul road demanding to arrest the persons involved in the attack. Over 100 of villagers today came out to the street and block all passer-by along the Imphal-Ukhrul road.
In connection with the attack, a public meeting was held at Gwaltabi community hall on Friday wherein representatives of various civil bodies like AMUCO, HERICOUN, MAPI Council, AMKIL and representatives of Clubs, Meira Paibi organization of Yaingangpokpi, Gwaltabi, SamjabiSabung Khunou, Seijang, Yourabung villages. The meeting formed a JAC against the anti-social activities to gwaltabi village by Thawai
village with Ph Rajesh as convenor. The meeting unanimously resolved to urge the government to arrest the culprits, to impose bandh along Imphal-Ukhrul road until police arrests the culprits involved, to suspend the Imphal east SDPO, OC of Lamlai and Yaingangpokpi police stations who failed to control the attack in front of their eyes, to give compensation for the damage by the Thawai village and to urge the state government to immediately settle the boundary dispute between Imphal east and Ukhrul.  According to JAC convenor Rajesh, on April 30, supporters of bandh called by All Tribal Chiefs’ Forum Manipur demanding full payment of funds under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNRGES) blocked the road at Gwaltabi area along the Imphal-Ukrul road. Some people of Gwaltabi village  requested the bandh supporters not to block the road at the area. Later in the evening (5:30 pm), bandh supporters numbering around 200 with weapons came to the village and began attacking and damaging residential houses and properties in Gwaltabi village. 30 residential houses out of 50 in the area were damaged by the mob.  A passenger vehicle bearing registration number MN 01-7545 was also damaged during the attack. Later, the same mob also damaged shops located at Gwaltabi Bazar. In the incident, one Ahanthem Khamba (22) sustained serious injuries on his arm and he has been admitted at RIMS Hospital, Imphal. The mob indulged in the violent act till around 7:30 pm. Valuable items were also looted along with the destruction of property.  The entire sequence of event place in full view of the personnel of Lamlai Police Station; Yaingangpokpi Police and 19 Assam Rifles posted at Yaingangpokpi, he said.

uncivilized tribals means what? Do u know wat tribal refered too? Tribal is the most uncivilised community in the world thats why tribals are benefitin so many quota.

I hope Imphal Times present the news in the exact manner it happened. Otherwise how can we trust the content of the news if media is not honest in their reports???
I’m already starting to doubt the accuracy of the other news in this paper.

Why would the bandh supporters vandalise Gwaltabi houses for no reason?
That’s because some Gwaltabi villagers ambushed and stabbed 6 bandh volunteers. 2 of them r in critical condition. This angered the Thawai villagers and the following story is as u know it.
Please be careful about what you write after analyzing the whole incident .
