Assam Rifles Organizes Pre Yoga Capsule

Units of IGAR (South) organised various activities as a prelude to the upcoming International Day of Yoga yesterday.
Activities conducted by 9 Sector Assam Rifles saw a participation of 700 persons including troops and civilians who attended the events at various locations.
Lectures highlighting the importance of a holistic approach to a healthy lifestyle, how yoga plays an important role in maintaining a balance between physical and mental fitness, benefits of Yoga in reducing stress and preventing lifestyle diseases were conducted. Under the supervision of trained yoga instructors, the participants performed various breathing exercises and Yoga Asanas as per the Common Yoga Protocol.
No of workshops were conducted by 10 Sector Assam Rifles at Ukhrul and Kamjong. The School children heartily participated in the event organized as a precursor to the 4th International Day of Yoga. The events was organized with an aim to enhance the awareness among the students and encourage them towards good health, fitness and discipline. Various forms of yoga exercises were taught to the students during the workshop.
26 Sector Assam Rifles conducted Yoga session prior to 4th International Yoga Day at Chelep Camp (SoO camp of KNO), St Peter School (Tengnoupal) and Company Operating Base Shaibol. The event was aimed to popularize Yoga and also to spread awareness about the benefits of Yoga among the cadres of SoO gps, students and locals. A lecture was also conducted in which it was explained that Yoga is essentially a spiritual discipline based on an extremely subtle science which focuses on bringing harmony between mind and body.
Yoga sessions were organized by trained instructors of Assam Rifles who explained and demonstrated the correct postures for various Asanas while explaining their benefits. A positive, well relaxed and de-stressed body and mind is the most significant benefit of Yoga which in turn assists us to face day to day challenges in more organized, calm and composed way.
