Manipur Maoist slams govt. over its inability to control ‘Thabal Chongba

Imphal, April 12,

Maoist Communist Party, Manipur today slammed the government over its inability to control the ‘Thabal Chongba’ festival which is being continued at various places despite the fact that it should be associated with the culture and tradition of the people and should have limitation.
‘Thabal Chongba’ which literal meaning is dancing in the moonlight is culturally affiliated festival of the people. It is every Manipuri’s duty to preserve the sanctity of the festival. As some people are organising at anytime without understanding the essence of the traditions, the significance of ‘Thabal Chongba’ is slowly degrading from its original tasted, the Maoist statement said.
On the other hand, the Maoist also blamed the government over its failure to control it.
“Every such programme needs permission from the District Administration and none of the Thabal Chongba Programme which are being organized using loud speaker did not take prior permission from the District administration authority”, the statement said an questioned the government authority on why the law enforcing agency are not ordered to stop such programme.
Maoist statement further said that Manipur has been sold at Gujarat recently and the government is trying to exterminate the culture and tradition of the people by destructing the cultural sanctity of the people.
“The way things are happening is nothing but a sign of lawlessness. Crime against women is on the rise and government seems to be neglecting on these issues”, the statement said.
Maoist further appealed the people to join hands in stopping the attack to the sanctity of the Manipuri culture if the government did not take up immediate measures to stop organising Thabal Chongba .
