109 Bn CRPF celebrated raising day with humanitarian gestures

Imphal, April 8,

109 Bn, CRPF, Monsangei celebrated its 28th Raising on 8th April 2018.  Unit was raised on 8th April 1991 at Avadi, Tamil Nadu and since raising, it remained deployed in all the theatres ranging from Punjab, J&K, Left Wing Extremist affected states to North-east India, performing multifaceted duties from combat role in fighting terrorism and providing security to VVIPs and vital installations. The unit have been successful in neutralising several hardcore anti-national elements in all the theatres along with recoveries of huge cache of arms and ammunitions including various apprehensions. The Unit is presently deployed in Manipur since May 2008 and is playing a pivotal role in maintaining peace & order in the State and effectively contributing to the story of its growth & development by keeping the lifeline of Manipur NH-2 safe and secure for uninterrupted supply of essential commodities to the people of Manipur and providing full proof security to the  Governor of Manipur and Raj Bhawan.  
The historic celebration of the day was begun by paying homage to the brave Martyrs of the unit who made supreme sacrifices for the cause of the nation.  Vinod Kumar, Commandant, 109 Bn greeted the officers, SOs and jawans and their families on the occasion through a special Sainik Sammelan.  He highlighted the contribution made by the unit for the service of the State and exhorted the officers and man to continue to exhibit high degree of professionalism and give their best for the State and Nation.
On the day, a team of officers and men led by the Commandant visited All Manipur Mentally Handicapped People’s Welfare Organisation, Monsangei and interacted with the specially abled children inmates and distributed sweets and toiletry items.  A blood donation camp was also organized at Unit HQr with the cooperation of Nehru Yuva Kendra, Kangpokpi and Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal in which about 50 persons including Commandant, Officers, SOs, Jawans and volunteers of NYK donated their blood.   
Recreational activities and sports competition for the unit personnel were also organized.  Later in the evening, a cultural programme was organized where Vikram Sahgal, IGP, Manipur & Nagaland Sector, CRPF graced the function as Chief Guest.  During the programme the jawans of the unit presented splendid cultural performances alongside local artists.  Speaking on the occasion, Shri Vinod Kumar, Commandant, stated that the unit will continue to serve the people by carrying out such humanitarian activities and through various Civic Action Programmes.  Shri Vikram Sahgal, IGP, CRPF greeted the officers, SOs and jawans of the unit and urged the unit to work hard and keep the flag of the CRPF and Nation high.
