105th National Science Congress (March 16-20, 2018 at Manipur University Campus, Imphal, Manipur)

Imphal, March 21: The 105th National Science Congress was held at Manipur University Campus, Imphal from March 16-20, 2018. It was result of the MoU between Manipur University and National Science Congress Association. The mega event was inaugurated by hon’ble Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi with his valuable speech emphasising on overall development of 8 North Eastern States in the august gathering of delegates from different parts of the country. The later proceedings were carried forward by Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Central Minister of Science & Technology ,  Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Earth Sciences, Govt. of India. Smt. Najma Akbarali Heptulla, Governor, Manipur, Shri Nongthombam Biren Singh, Chief Minister, Manipur and his cabinet, Shri Ram Muivah, IAS, Secretary, NEC, Shillong were among the distinguished personalities present during the inaugural proceedings. The Secretary, NEC has emphasized on similar kinds of programme in the near future for the better growth and development of North East Region. He has also made a thorough visit in all the stalls available in five pavilions and reiterated the role of NEC in overall sectoral development. All the VVIPs and VIPs have highlighted the need of more focus on NER as a business hub of South Asian Countries and potentials of global collaboration.
Nearly 5000 delegates including; innovators, institutions, departments, scientist, manufacturer, researchers, teachers, students, entrepreneurs have participated in five days long mega event. The State Government and the event management groups have performed their best in successful completion of the event. Along with other visitors, the District Administration of Imphal has taken best ever efforts in maintaining peaceful law and order and in ensuring the security to the life and property of the general public. Students from various University, College and School along with their guides have visited the site as a part of the major attraction.
The Stall of National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, MoRD, GoI bearing no. E-37 has also attracted large number of visitors. The team consisting of Team Leader Shri SK Ghosh, Sr. CPA and Shri Kaushik Kalita,Training Manager along with Dr. Anwar Hazarika and Shri Vikas Kumar have explained and interacted with each and every visitors. Shri Ram Muivah, IAS, Secretary, NEC,
Shillong has also appreciated the efforts of NIRDPR in exhibiting rural technology interventions, entrepreneurship development, value addition and product diversification and focus on women empowerment etc. The main attractions of the stall were Rural Technology Products (Mango Bar, Handmade Ayurvedic Soaps, Various Namkins, Mushroom Enriched Noodles, Environment Friendly and Cost Effective Cloth Bags, Saal Plates, Tamul Plates, Organic Fertilisers and Pesticides etc.)and Publicity of various career oriented courses like; Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Development Management (PGDRDM), Post Graduate Diploma in Sustainable Rural Development (PGDSRD), Post Graduate Diploma in Tribal Development Management (PGDTDM) andPost Graduate Diploma in Geo Informatics Application and Rural Development(PGD-GARD), demonstration and orientation on scopes and opportunities under DDU-GKY and NRLM.Live demonstration and Videographic presentation Leaflets, Brochures, Newsletters, Magazines, Publications pertaining to NIRDPR, Hyderabad and North Eastern Regional Centre etc. The congress concluded on 20-3-2018 at 3.30 PM with new hopes and opportunities for further development initiatives.
