Chief Minister launches six months free remedial coaching

Imphal, March 19: Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said that there is nothing impossible to achieve if one puts in effort with a firm determination.
He was speaking at the launch of a six-month free remedial coaching programme under Chief Minister’s Lairik Yengminnasi Programme 2017-18 at the Durbar Hall of Chief Minister’s Secretariat today.
The scheme is implemented by Manipur Minorities and OBC Economic Development Society (MOBEDS) under the Department for Welfare of Minorities, OBCs and Scheduled Castes (MOBC & SC).
The Chief Minister said that the remedial coaching was conducted with an objective to provide tuition facility to the students belonging to minority, OBC and SC communities.
Stating that the present Government had already taken up many social security schemes for the needy and poor people, N. Biren said that the coaching programme was also part of one such scheme which would benefit the students belonging to less privileged sections of the society.
He said that youths are aptly known as the future pillars of the society, and it is the teachers who guide these future pillars to success.
Informing that 83 Government teachers and 71 private sector teachers had been engaged for the said coaching programme, the Chief Minister stated that Rs. 74 lakh has been earmarked for this particular scheme, he added.
Government teachers for Classes VI-X students would be given a monthly remuneration of Rs. 5000 per month while Government teachers for Classes XI-XII would get Rs. 6000 per month, he added.
On the other hand, private sector teachers for Classes VI-X would be given a monthly remuneration of Rs. 8000 per month while Government teachers for Classes XI-XII would get Rs. 10,000 per month, the Chief Minister said.
Principal Secretary (MOBC and SC) P.K. Singh, Director (MOBC and SC) Kh. Dineshchandra Singh and other high ranking officials of the department were also present at the occasion.
The programme aims at achieving quality education by all students regardless of poor or rich. Infrastructure of the Government schools will be utilised in running the coaching programme. Coaching will be conducted from 6 am to 8:30 am in three subjects i.e. Science, Maths and English. The classes that will be covered under this scheme are: Category A (Class VI to X) and Category B (Class XI and XII Science).
Coaching for Category A will be conducted at Srivan High School, Luwangshangbam, Lilong Higher Secondary Madrassa, Lilong, Irong High Madrassa, Irong Chesaba, Kwakta High School, Kwakta Lamkhai, Bengoon Higher Secondary School, Mayang Imphal, Heingang High School, Heingang, Sangaiyumpham High School, Sangaiyumpham, Lalpani Government High School, Lalpani, Jiribam, Ahmedabad High School, Jiribam, Minuthong Faiza High School, Hafiz Hatta, Poiroukhongjin High School, Yairipok, Haoreibi Makha Leikai, Lilong, Kiyamgei High Madrassa, Kiyamgei, Phubala High School, Phubala, Andro High School, Andro and Azad Higher Secondary School, Yairipok.
Coaching for Category B will be conducted at Bengoon Higher Secondary School, Mayang Imphal, Lilong Higher Secondary School, Lilong, Sangaiyumpham High School, Sangaiyumpham, Kiyamgei High Madrassa, Kiyamgei, Moirang Multipurpose Higher Secondary School, Moirang, N. Tomchou Higher Secondary School, Mayang Imphal and Pravabati College (Secondary Section), Mayang Imphal.
