International Seminar on Ramkavya Parampara Aur Pryayog inaugurates

Imphal, March 9: A two-day International Seminar on “Ramkavya Parampara Aur Prayog: Vishes Sandhrabh Uttarpurva Ka Sahitya” concluded today at Court Hall, Manipur University.
The seminar was organised by Department of Hindi, Manipur University. The seminar will deliberate on hindi literature Ramkavya Parampara with special reference on the North-East literature.
Professor Adya Parasad Pandey, Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University inaugurated the seminar yesterday. Prof. Ravindra Kanhare,V.C. Bhoj Open University ahd Prof. Yogendra Pratap Singh, Director, Ayodhya Shodh Sansthan, U.P. attended the inauguration as Guests of Honour respectively. Prof. Ch. Yashawanta Singh, Dean, School of Humanities, MU presided over the function.
Speaking on the inaugural day Professor Pandey said whenever we talk about Ram Katha or Ramayan, Tulsidas is always remembered. Recollecting those days in Kashi where he belongs to, professor said that he has been witnessing people talk and discussed about Ramayana in Kashi extensively. The Ramayana is one of the two great Indian epics. It tells about life, sibling relationship, difference between right & wrong, the value of a promise, love & respect for parents, beware of bad counsel.  It is not just a story. It tells the importance of values such as loving and respecting our family, keeping our promises, protecting the weak and to espouse the importance of doing our duty in relationships such as the ideal father, ideal son, ideal brother, and ideal wife, etc. The Ramayana preach a lot of values and ethics that we would want our children to imbibe which we can teach to our children by way of storytelling. Ram possessed the best managerial characteristics that utilized the maximum local resources and was into strategic alliance with others to achieve our desired goal said Pandey while terming the war between Ram and Ravana as the most economical war. He also extended his gratitude to delegates, participants and organising team for conducting such international seminars.
Prof. Ravindra Kanhare thanked professor Pandey for hosting 105th Indian Science Congress at Manipur University. He highlighted about the political lessons which we can learn from Ramayana and Mahabharat.
Speaking to the gathering, Prof. Yogendra Pratap Singh stressed on involvement and association of Art and culture with Manipur Ras Lila and other mythological epics.
The function commenced with felicitation of the dignitaries followed by lighting of ceremonial lamp. Vote of thanks was proposed by Gaiguimeilu Kamei.
