Mandalay women football team arrive Imphal; Match scheduled on Nov 25 & 26

Imphal, Nov 23: The Women Football team from Mandalay which is playing exhibition match with the women football team of the state on November 25 & November 26 as a part of the Sangai Tourism Festival have arrived Imphal today evening.
The exhibition match between players of the two country India and Myanmar is the first of its kind in the country and is being organized as a part of the Sangai Festival under the theme – ‘Connecting through Sports’ to enhance better relationships between the two countries, particularly those living in Manipur and those at Mandalay.
R.K Shivachandra, Convenor, of the committee formed by the Manipur Government for materialization of the Act East Policy, is the main architect for organizing the event. Chief Minister of Manipur N. Biren Singh had earlier lauded the effort of Shivachandra and his team in making the programme a successful event.  
Football match between the two countries will now be a calendar event as the Myanmar government taking keen interest in the matter had resolved to do during a meeting at Nepytaw.
Editor of Huiyen Lanpao daily, Hemanta Ningombam had stated the event as a boon for the people of the state. Talking in a discussion hour at local television channel ISTV Network, Hemanta said that the kind of event organized as a part of the Sangai Festival will improve the quality of football players of the state. He however said that, if such event need to be organized national players from the state who have been playing at different club of India should have been brought here as Myanmar team is a hard working team.
“While it will improve the quality of football of the state players, it will also bring closure relation between people of Mandalay and Manipur”, Hemanta said.
