3 dead, 3 injured in fresh violence at Kangchup in I/W

At least three civilian villagers were killed and three others are reported injured in a fresh violence that happened at Kangchup foothill in Imphal West district today.
Our reporter, who visited the site today afternoon told that tension still runs high at the Kangchup foothill area after heavily armed Kuki militants fired rounds of gunshots toward the Meitei villages today morning. Following the incident, state police and other SF rushed to the spot and gunbattle occurred between the security forces and the Kuki militants for hours. Report said that sound of gunshots was still heard at the time of filling this report.
The villagers too came out to the street of Phayeng protesting the support by the Assam Rifles troops to the armed Kuki militants.
The armed Kuki militants are reportedly attacking the civilian Meitei villagers in all the periphery areas. Today’s firing happens a day after the armed Kuki militants burnt over 200 houses including the house of MLA K Ranjit at Serou in Kakching district. The attack on the civilian villagers began with the announcement by Union Home Minister Amit Shah to shun violence to both the Kuki militants under SoO and the Meitei civilian.
Minister Dingko, MLA Rajen, MLA Arunkumar, MLA Robindro, and MLA Rameshwor rushed to the firing spot to take stock of the situation.
