Act as Act East is on

Indeed we are blessed with the country’s new approach towards the South East Asia. Nobody including Tomba, Chaoba, Tombi etc. would like to miss this opportunity. The country’s look East policy now ‘Act East Policy’ is sure to bring drastic changes to the fate of the erstwhile kingdom which had merged to the Indian Union in the year 1949. If one recalls the annals of the erstwhile kingdom, the merger with the Indian Union was more a scourge than blessing. It was in the aftermath of the merger that voices against the merger were put up from several quarters. Armed rebel group which was probably borne out of the issue has haunted the region for around 3 / 4 decades. Peace was considered as a distant dreamt for almost everyone in the region. But to be precise, the decades’ long conflict between the Indian Union and the armed opposition group had finally brought the notice of the mainland leaders to think about the region. It was something like dream comes to reality when the country’s leadership started thinking about the region during the late 90s. India’s look east policy is perhaps a boon. This is the chance that the country’s leadership could correct their past mistake. We said so, because, the country is considered to be the world largest democracy.
With the Act East Policy Manipur now has been at the center stage in view of its geographical location. Many delegations from neighbouring countries in the South East Asia including Thailand, Myanmar, and Japan etc. had started arriving in the state to take stock of the situation. Each delegation witnessed the potential of this state. However, the worrying thing is the conditions of the National High Ways and the law and order situation.  It should be kept in mind that the two main National Highways that connects the state with the rest of the country is of immense importance not only for the state but for the country as well. As the state being a gateway, the road conditions and other infrastructures will be the first impression of the foreign Landers. The conditions of everything here will be the face of the country.
It is right time for all the mainland leaders to focus more for improving the conditions of the state. It is high time that the mainland leaders concentrate more on improving the two national high ways which connect the state with the rest of the country.
