Imphal, April 20:

In the aftermath of yesterday’s disturbing events during the first phase of the 18th Lok Sabha election, the BJP Manipur Pradesh has voiced its strong condemnation. A Sarda, the President of BJP Manipur Pradesh, expressed deep concern over the untoward incident that occurred during the electoral process.
Addressing the media, Sarda vehemently condemned the incident and demanded swift action against those responsible for disrupting the electoral proceedings. He highlighted the attack on party agents during the electoral process as particularly alarming, emphasizing that such actions are not isolated occurrences. Sarda pointed out that similar incidents have marred previous elections, with some individuals even sustaining gunshot wounds during past Parliamentary elections.
The first phase of the Lok Sabha election, which transpired on April 19, witnessed a substantial voter turnout of 72.32 percent. However, amidst this democratic exercise, reports of violence and intimidation have surfaced, prompting the BJP Manipur Pradesh to lodge a formal complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI).
Sarda expressed concern over the safety of BJP workers, noting that several of them have reportedly been either arrested or subjected to threats. The party remains steadfast in its commitment to upholding the integrity of the electoral process and ensuring the safety and security of all participants.
